Governor of //Kharas region visits RPZ

It was a pleasure to recently welcome the Governor of the ||Kharas Region, Hon. Dawid Gertze, to our operation, accompanied by members of his delegation including Russel Titus, Emrico Blaauw, Hon. Raymond Jossop, Hon. Willem Dawids, Emmeritus Witbooi, as well as our Town Manager, Alexander Maasdorp.
The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain first-hand insight into our mining and processing operations. Hosted by our Mine Manager Alex Mayrick, together with members of our Senior Leadership Team, the Governor and his team were taken on an underground tour to better understand the scale, complexity, and safety measures that guide our daily operations. The delegation was also introduced to key stages of our processing plant, including a closer look at the paste fill plant and the role it plays in supporting responsible and efficient mining practices.
As this was the Governor’s first visit to RPZ, it created valuable space for open engagement and discussion around the role of mining in regional development, economic participation, and long-term sustainability. During the visit, the Governor acknowledged the work and investments being made within Rosh Pinah and surrounding communities. In his remarks, Hon. Gertze noted that “RPZ masters and is integral in the economic trajectory of the region and the country at large, and if RPZ could reach areas such as Kosis through CSR, then that just shows the impact the mine is ploughing into the communities and this country.”
We appreciate the time taken by the Governor and his delegation to engage with our team and to gain a deeper understanding of the work taking place on site. Visits such as these strengthen collaboration between industry and government and help ensure that mining continues to contribute meaningfully to local communities, regional growth, and Namibia’s broader development agenda.
