RPZ partnership rekindles Grade 8 and transforms learning

In the town of Rosh Pinah, a significant educational milestone is being celebrated. For the first time in a decade, Rosh Pinah Academy (RPA) has welcomed a Grade 8 class back into its halls. This pivotal moment, re-establishing a crucial link in the local educational pathway, has been powerfully amplified by a transformative partnership with Rosh Pinah Zinc (RPZ). The company’s sponsorship of a cutting-edge smartboard for the new online classroom represents far more than a sponsorship of hardware, it is a direct investment in interactive learning, digital equity, and the long-term future of the community’s youth. 

Principal Madelein Duplessis underscores the profound meaning of this support. “We are deeply grateful to RPZ for generously sponsoring a smartboard for the Grade 8 online classroom of Rosh Pinah Academy,” she says. “This gift is more than equipment, it is a bridge to a richer, more interactive learning experience. Our vision is to transform the classroom into a space where teachers and students engage actively and creatively, rather than a passive screen. It will be a shared canvas where multiple learners can work at once.” 

Enhancing classroom engagement 

The smartboard has made lessons more interactive and engaging. “Students are more involved, and teachers use multimedia resources to explain concepts effectively,” Duplessis noted. This supports a shift toward active, participatory learning. 

Through a partnership with Educational Consultancy Services, Grade 8 learners access the Cambridge curriculum via the Toddle platform. The smartboard enables the class to participate collectively in online lessons with teachers based in Windhoek, creating an inclusive and focused learning environment.

Developing modern skills

The technology fosters collaboration, digital literacy, and critical thinking. Students work together in real time on shared tasks, navigate online platforms confidently, and engage with interactive content that encourages deeper understanding and problem-solving.

The sponsorship helps expand the school’s educational offerings and resources. “It strengthens our capacity to grow and innovate,” said Duplessis. “This positions Rosh Pinah Academy for long-term development within the community.”
